What this IP lookup shows
Enter an IPv4 or IPv6 address and the tool returns what the official regional internet registries (ARIN, RIPE, APNIC, LACNIC and AFRINIC) record for it: the network name, the organisation it is assigned to, the registry's country, the IP range and CIDR block, and the reverse DNS (PTR) hostname. Leave the box empty to see your own public IP, with an approximate location and network from Cloudflare.
When to use it
- Find out which provider or hosting company an IP belongs to — for example an address from your server logs or an email header.
- Check your own public IP and which ISP network you're on, before setting up port forwarding or allow-listing your address.
- Confirm a VPN is working: with it switched on, the IP and country shown here should change.
- Find where a website is hosted: look up its A record with the DNS Lookup, then paste that IP here.
How accurate is the location?
- For other people's addresses this tool shows registry ownership, not a physical location. The registry country is where the block was assigned, which can differ from where the device is. For your own IP, the city shown is only an estimate.
- The organisation and network name identify who holds the address block — often more useful than any location guess.
- This tool looks up IP addresses only. To go from a domain to its IP, use the DNS Lookup; to go from an IP back to a hostname, use Reverse DNS.
