Free DNS tools built for developers, sysadmins, and website owners across Canada and beyond.
DNSChecker.ca is a free, independent DNS toolset designed to make DNS management easier for everyone — from professional developers and system administrators to small business owners managing their own websites.
DNS is the foundation of the internet, yet it remains poorly understood by many website owners. We built DNSChecker.ca to bridge that gap — providing professional-grade DNS tools that are completely free, require no signup, and are accessible to anyone.
We believe that understanding and managing DNS should not require expensive software or specialist knowledge. Our tools are designed to be simple enough for beginners while powerful enough for professionals.
DNSChecker.ca is proudly Canadian. We operate under Canada's domain extension to serve the Canadian web community — developers, agencies, and businesses across BC, Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, and every province. That said, our tools work for any domain, anywhere.
Our DNS propagation checker sends your query to 12 public DNS resolvers (including Google, Cloudflare, Quad9 and CIRA Canadian Shield) over DNS-over-HTTPS and shows what each one answers at that moment. Resolvers keep their own caches, so an answer can lag until the record's TTL expires. It is not a test from 12 different cities.
Our IP lookup uses the official regional internet registries (RDAP) to show who an address is assigned to. For your own IP, the approximate location comes from Cloudflare's network. IP locations are estimates, not street addresses.
We don't require an account, don't build profiles of what you look up, and don't sell data. Lookups pass through our hosting provider (Cloudflare) to the resolvers and registries we query, and your recent searches are saved only in your own browser. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Sam builds and maintains DNS, hosting and web infrastructure for small businesses in British Columbia, Canada. He writes and reviews every guide on DNSChecker.ca, and builds the lookup tools that run on it.
The guides here come from day-to-day work: migrating name servers, fixing mail that stopped delivering after an MX change, and chasing down propagation problems on real client domains. If something in a guide is wrong or out of date, tell us — corrections get made.
